Packings made of aramid fibers have an extremely high mechanical strength. This is why these seals are used in areas with considerable pressure, large gap dimensions and abrasive loads. Furthermore, aramid packings from billi seals are shaft-friendly and wear-resistant.
Flat gaskets made of aramid fibers from billi seals
Flat gaskets, also known as flange gaskets, made of aramid fibers are the classic flat gasket, as they are used in almost all standard applications.
In the area of flat gaskets, aramid fiber gaskets are produced as fiber sheets. The gasket sheet consists of compressed aramid fibers that are rubber-bonded (nitrile butadiene rubber, NBR for short).
We manufacture our aramid fiber packings from aramid yarn. The yarn consists of combed and twisted continuous fibers that are braided and impregnated during production.
Aramid fiber gaskets are suitable for many areas and media. Flat gaskets made of aramid fibers are used for media such as petroleum derivatives, water, saturated steam, gas or for chemical products in general.
Packings made of aramid yarn are used, for example, in centrifugal and piston pumps as well as in agitators and mixers. They are also suitable for slide valves and low-pressure valves.
Our flat gaskets made of aramid fibers are heat-resistant up to 400 degrees Celsius and can withstand a maximum pressure of 110 bar. The tensile strength of aramid fiber seals is between 11.5 and 13 N/mm2 and the density is between 1.75 and 1.95 g/cm3.
Packings made of aramid fibers can withstand temperatures between -100 and +280 degrees Celsius. The maximum pressure load ranges from 30 to 100 bar, depending on the model and area of application. The speed also varies with the different aramid yarns from billi seals. The lower limit is 1.5 m/s, the upper limit 20 m/s.
